History
Junior Carnival Idol has developed from the carnival committee’s junior talent contest that ran in the late 1990s by the then Junior Committee, which included our producer Adam Dimond.

Last Year
Revamped and opened up to young people across the district of Teignbridge after two auditions 9 finalists were selected by a panel of three judges to proceed to the final. After selection the finalists, that day, embarked on a 4 hr session to learn, choreograph and rehearse a 15 minute medley of school that they performed that evening at the Dawlish Youth Proms in the Shaftesbury Theatre in Dawlish. On the lead up to the final they also performed in front of 5000 people at Dawlish Warren on the 11th August.

The finalists were given training and advice on singing, choreography and performing of lyrics in a number of rehearsals once selected. With a lot of hard work commitment, professionalism and teamwork they were then ready for the Grand Final on the 15th August 2007 again at the Shaftesbury. This time judged by 4 people from across the showbiz and entertainment spectrum they each performed a chosen track. 

Georgia Hodder, 12 of Dawlish was announced Junior Carnival Idol 2007 and presented with her £100 prize money, she also performed with judge Mark Price the following evening and was invited to an East 17 concert by their agent Terry Mills whom was also an Idol judge.

The 2008 Competition
We now enter the second season by holding additional auditions in Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey and opening the competition to anyone in South Devon aged 11 – 17 years. We plan more performance for the finalists on the lead up to this final on Monday 18th August again at the Shaftesbury.
